Plagiarism warnings are ubiquitous, yet acritical skill in avoiding plagiarism — paraphrasing — is one that L2 student writers often lack. This inquiry project examines the paraphrasing practices of 21 university students with diverse L1s, yielding insights about the cognitive and pedagogical factors in this complex process.
